Three Simple Rules in Life
1. If you do not go after what you want, you’ll never have it.
2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no.
3. If you don not step forward, you will always be on the same place.
“People who could identify a goal they were pursuing were 19 percent more likely to feel satisfied with their lives and 26 more likely to feel positive about themselves”, remarked David Niven in his inspiring book 100 Simple Secrets of the Best Half of Life.
Actively pursuing goals and letting go of “I can’t” is the key to happiness, according to positive psychologists. But instead of doing it for the pursuit of money, try setting your heart on a deeper yet more fulfilling goal, like living the life you want to live. Sure money does buy happiness but a study found that earning after about $75,000 a year, people experience a “happiness plateau”. The happiness we get from money has an expiration date. Here’s another takeaway: the same study also reported that the materialistic drive and satisfaction with life are negatively related.
Committing to goals, despite obstacles, subconsciously makes people happier because it gives a sense of purpose and meaning to their lives. But as you may have already guessed it, it’s not as easy as it sounds, yet it’s not impossible at all! It all starts with a positive mindset, and then a step-by-step plan with the help of supportive and knowledgeable people. You don’t have to do it all by yourself.
It’s called the Three Simple Rules in Life but relatively few people ever had the guts to follow these steps. This world would have been filled with remarkably happy people!
