“Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.”
It’s been said time and time again that positive thoughts could change your life, but turning your thoughts from negative to positive demands an upgrade in what you say, what you do, and who you’re with.
Let’s start with what you say. Positive psychologists found that certain statements like “I’m so dumb,” or “My life is so boring,” fosters negativity even when uttered casually. Instead, use statements like “I can work on it,” or “We’ll find a solution.” People underestimate how their words significantly impact their attitudes and moods.
Second, if you’re aware of your need to change, admit it to yourself and take action. It may be hard to do especially when you’re not in the mood but you’ll be glad you did something about it. You don’t even have to take long strides; the mere act of smiling, appreciating what you have, and lending a hand to those in need, could jumpstart the production of “happy” hormones.
And lastly, surround yourself with positive people. Attitude has a tendency to rub off on people, and if you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd, it only takes a matter of time before you end up thinking and acting like them. However, you could change the situation by not letting their negativity win. Happiness and optimism is as contagious!
We all want to change our lives for the better, yet only a few determined people are taking steps to a better attitude. Always remember that it takes positivity to move mountains.
